Auto-erotic implants????

In the not-so-distant future, attaining the Big O during sex will be as easy as changing television channels with auto-erotic implants.

Researchers all over the world are exploring the possibilities of an electronic chip that would stimulate the brain’s pleasure centers within the orbitofrontal cortex. This is the area associated with feel-good activities like eating and sexual intercourse. Stimulating specific portions of the brain has already been used to treat Parkinson’s disease, but scientists are keen to see if the technology will also work in the orbitofrontal cortex.

Dr. Stuart Meloy has modified a spinal cord stimulator and called it the Orgasmatron. Dr. Meloy’s creation plays on the idea of stimulating the orbitofrontal cortex.

If the science works out, auto-erotic implants could be in our very near future.

  2. Hm. I trust the implants will come (um, no pun intended) with warnings concerning the potential for addiction.

  9. In the not to distant future a person won't have to go outside to get anything and apparently from this article won't need a mate either unless procreation is still on the list and likely they'll come up with something to solve that issue. It's an interesting world and will continue to be more so. I would love to come back in say bout 200 years(which isn't that long really) and see what's happening, even if just for a couple of hours.
