Ever Heard of Daggering?

An erotic dance craze is thought to be the cause of a recent spate of broken penises in Jamaica, and now faces a government crackdown.

"Daggering", a lewd dance style where couples simulate dry sex in various positions to the beat of the music, & is characteristic by over-the-top gyrating, heavy pelvis-thrusting and daredevil leaps.

Many couples have taken the "rough"daggering dance from the  club to the bedroom, with disasterous consequences.Jamaican doctors were prompted to issue a warning on the dangers of  daggering when  presented with a range of fractured penises caused by rough intercourse.

The number of cases tripled in the last year, the UK's Sun reported. The rising popularity of the new dance - and sebsaquent public protests - have prompted the Jamaican government to ban songs and videos with blatantly sexual content.

  3. I agree Angie I could never combine a dance floor and band with the horizontal hula!

  5. Hi Angie--

A theory exists that states that some dancing is a publicly acceptable expression of sexuality. The theory says that male and female dancing together, in particular, is representative of the real-life interactions and relations that couples have with one another, from the mild to the wild--from the Waltz to the Tango, and beyond. If this is the case, it seems this sort of "dance" depicted above would be the natural culmination of that expression in a hedonistic culture unconcerned with public acceptability.

  8. hmm.. I wouldnt call this dancing.. perhaps a form of self expression.. looks more like exhibitionism to me.

In a hedonistic culture wouldnt they be forgetting dance and partaking in the "real" act of sexual indulgence?

  9. Depends on the level of hedonism into which the culture is steeped--might be next.

  23. awesome clip Cass, thank very much. Over the years Ive found some very nice belly dancing clips also in YouTube.... I think thats awesome, and love the costumes.

Gorgeous costumes in the Dancing .. I really loved the Black trousers that Julianne was wearing.. a little different to see trousers on the female, but they were extremely elegant in my view.

I have a friend who does not enjoy dancing.. says he has two left feet. Anyway, his wife loves to dance, so a couple of years ago he bought her 10 weeks Ball Room Dancing tuitian for the two of them to learn as a couple. He SO enjoyed the classes..he practiced when ever he had the opportunity and every so often he would give me a running comentary on his improvement. I was encouraging him to take more classes. and he did. Something I have asked Glenn if he would like to do without success.

I know that you enjoy Ballet, As a child I only sat a few exams in Ballet but because of my flexability I was actually quite good. For me, I found the theory too time consuming as a youngster... but my heart wasnt in ballet it was into learning to play an instrument.. so I switched one for the other .

  28. Weird?.. Strange.. thats what my girlfriend calls my Mult page. For a while back she called it my "amputee page" because Id done a few blogs in succession on some form of body amputation or mutilation.. Ive been trying to get her to start her own Mult page for a few years now cause she is always asking about thinks Ive posted that come up in conversation.

Hope you find the weird interesting as well.

STILL waiting on my Goose Egg.... had enough practice yet?

  32. I have always wanted to take belly dancing lessons..I just love watching it and the costumes must just be so much fun to create....

I want to got take some Ball Room Dancing lessons too...I told Steve I really want us to learn how to tango...I just love the way that dance looks...You know before I met him, he had to a chance to go to the set of Dancing with the Stars and had his pic taken with Cheryl and I think it was the woman wrestler who danced, I can't remember her name...I will have to try to dredge the pics ups somewhere...I love watching that show...

I took ballet from the age of 3 to 17...I will still go and dance once in a while, I just love ballet.
I'm glad you went where your heart took you....so many people don't and regret it.....

  33. you raced me here Cass.. was going to post another Belly Dancing clip.. I really enjoy the Gothic Belly Dancing. Ive had a few friends over the years who have tried Belly Dancing, but none who stuck with it for any period of time.

I say go take those Dance Lessons.. something you can both do and enjoy together. My parents were really good Dances in their youth and had hours upon hours of enjoyment dancing.

Id love to see the Pics of Steve if you can find them! Yep, I too really enjoy Dancing with the Stars when I watch it, but its not often that I watch TV.. I usually am doing something at the computer or studying.

I only did three years of Ballet ..My sister did around six or seven and had, at one time thought about doing dance professionally. I just loved the music and had a musical instrument of one kind in my hand from the age of 7 till I finished school at 17. Between sport and Music I really didnt do too much else. Unfortunately Ive not played much over the past ten years. I was teaching Recorder to a class of 7 and 8 year olds for a year .. man that interesting.. lol

  35. so, now we've gome from fractured johnsons to belly dancing... that'll help my dreams, thanks....

when in boulder, used to run the boulder bolder 10 k and there were people lined up on the streets rooting all the runners on before they got into the packed stadium (it's a big race, with many internationaly reknowned runners).... and the people encouraging us was a great motivation.... one street corner always had a band playing, that was excellent... another street always had a group of gals who were in a belly-dancing club... that was excellent (tho one had to remember to keep running)...

my friend christina joined the belly-dancing group for a few years, partly for exercise, partly just to learn/enjoy the intricacy/beauty of the dance.... she had a wonderful time doing it..

so, yeah, i think we should start a 'ply-belly-dancing club here on your page... learning the movements via some online site.... then doing weekly vids of our progress here on your page...

    coolness...

  36. you know Dave(id).. that could really be fun..

The Boulder run would have been something to look forward to and train toward during the year, excellent indeed.
