  1. This set up belongs/belonged to a couple who lived together, I cant remember if they were married. They both enjoyed Online Computer Games. Their spare room was filled with Servers and their loung room was set up with two bootable computers ( as you can seee infront of the reclyners)..

  5. Oh My Goodness are you being serious? I couldnt imagine watching a screen that size.. Im assuming the room wouldnt be bigger than average. 3D would be something Id like to see, Ive not seen the 3D monitors. But the gaming doesnt really interest me either. I have no idea about the chair you describe but I will "google" it and see what I can come up with.

Gaming addiction can be hugely expensive when it strikes an adult who has the means to the cash to throw at the addiction.

  8. Tell me about it! only I didn't really have the cash LOL
I was playing up to 11hr's pr day but I did play in competitions (top prize (then) £2,000 to £5,000).
It was like gambling, you won some and lost some.

  9. My son, Brett, (17yrs) just read your comment and went .. Wayyyy Kewl!!. lol

There are some amazing things available for Gamers .. computer and console gamers. Its an expensive hobby for sure. The mere act of keeping updated with hardware is a killer as the technology moves so quickly and ofcourse the latest games need the newest technology.

Your Brother writes and designs computer games?

  13. Brett has played so many games I havent been able to keep track. They all are basically the same, Slash and Hack .. oh and BANG..

He has played Counter Strike and Medal of Honor. At the moment he is playing World of Warcraft 2.. the graphics are very good. He set his computer up in the living room earlier this week so that he could play it using the LCD High definition TV. Im sure he would have left it there if Id not insisted the room go back to its origional state.

Many years ago I used to enjoy Computer Games but the games I enjoyed were more stratagy games. My favourite was Eleventh Hour. Myst was wayyyy too difficult.

Quote......"If you count the number of PCs, you'll get 47. My girlfriend controls 23 and I control 23. The other one is a server. All but 2 of those pcs are diskless. It got to the point that updating 46 pcs just took too long, the hard drives added to the electric bill and generated heat"

  17. On Myst you had to set up your character which took about what felt like a day!!
You could be anything from cook, burglar to a knight in shining armor but after you selected which class you were you had to set up what you liked, what your character was going to do and no do.... yawn! LOL

  18. Basically it's just two computers that CAN boot into an OS. The others are servers and/or CD/DVDROMS, Storage etc..

When they create a LAN the servers will take the load off the bootable PC's (or should).
There usually used by people who are in clans and so on.

  19. thanks keir..

    (i don't get it, but thanks.. )

ummm, what a minute... ''used by people who are in clans?'... u mean like the ku klux klan? ir so, no good.. but maybe u mean like the clan of the cave bear.. if so, them's some impressive grizzlies..

  21. Me again ... Dave... I never fully understood how this guys set up worked. I was confused as to how these machines couldnt run on each having an OS ( which would be extremely expensive I would have presumed they would all need their own licenced version)... Assumed they would need this even as a LAN environment.

WELL .. today I was talking to a friend who is VERY into WoW and I asked him to explain this scenario... ( I tried .. but I got somewhat lost with him.. he went through it all so quickly and some of the terms were lost on me... ) SO.. this really explains it very well, If your interested. I found it enlightening, but you may arleady know this.

  23. When you start (or re-start) your computer, that's called "booting". If you want to get all technical, when you power on your computer, it's a "cold boot". Restarting it is a "warm boot".

Tossing it out the window is just giving it "da boot".

  24. I found clans (or groups) boring as hell, you HAD to be online for a "match" i.e. your clan or gang v's another clan or gang to fight in a private server, then Saturday would come and they'd be ready for the "big match"
    Boooooooooring lol
I was clanless all the time but I would run circles round a lot of them haha!!

  25. You can create a LAN on any computer, what we used to do was create a LAN (not connected) and look round the map for weak points and good points for sniping etc.
This would be before we went online with the maps, that way you knew your way around and could sus out where you'd be more likely to be attacked.
It didn't always go to plan like that bit it did help lol

  26. I knew someone set up that way... games would jump from one monitor to the next one hehehe. That was cute. Own servers and everything. The whole family was a lil nuts lol
