Tigar Temple in Thialand

The Tiger Temple or Wat Pha Luang Ta Bua  is a Theravada Buddhist temple in Thailand and has been a sancturary for many endeangered animals including serveral tigers that walk around freely once a day and can be petted by tourists.  The temple received several tiger cubs where the mothers had been killed by poachers. As of 2007  over 21 cubs have been born at the temple and the total number of tigers is about 12 adult tigers and 4 cubs. The tigers are tamedby being fed with cooked meat to avoid giving them the taste for blood. The staff keep the tigers under control and the abbot will intervene fi the tiger gets agitated.  They are treated as family members in the temple.

  6. I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes with certain animals, because they look so gorgeous and lovealbe we tend to over look the fact that they are wild creatures.
    Big cats are simply stunning.
Althought they didnt have alot of information about this temple.. and I didnt take the time to try and find any more information via google.. I have a feeling by looking at some of the pictures ( noticed collars on the Tigers) that these animals may be chained .. I hope, for their sakes that their are not restrained for long each day.
Personally, I dont know if I would visit this place.

  9. Beautiful, and I would go there in a heartbeat if I could afford it! LOL I have a pic on my fridge of the temples at Angor Wat, and I would also love to visit that location. It shows a cliff face of the temples and two little robed monks perched on a door ledge of one. The stark contrast of the deep sliver and greens with the gold and red of the monks robes is really incredible. They're just hanging out in the place that is their "home" every day, lol. Cool stuff in this world eh?

  10. I love anyone who realises that these animals have just as much right to live on this planet as we do.

    I heart the Tiger Temple
