Riding the Subway.. doggie style. (no Kyle..not what yr thinking)

Russian Scientists say that Moscow stray dogs became much smarter. The four legged oldest human's friends demonstrate real smartness such as riding the Moscow metro every morning to get from their suburban places of living to the fat regions of Moscow centre.
Ecologists studying these dogs say  the dogs have the ability not to miss their stop while going on the subway train. Biologists say dogs have a very nice sense of time which helps them not miss their destination. Another skill they have is to cross the road on the green traffic light. "They dont react on colour, but on the picture they see on the traffic light". Also they choose often the last or the first metro car - those are less crowded usually.

  2. Hi there Heather.... what I didnt put in my post was that the business centre that these dogs seem to travel to has alot of kiosks and cafes. A common trend is occuring. The dogs wait near these food outlets and when customers leave and start eating their food the dogs get close from behind and bark.. usually resulting in the person being followed getting such a fright their food gets dropped.. and subsequently eaten by the offending dog. How smart is that !!???

  6. quite an amazing story, angie....

don't think you were in mult a while back when i did a keerah blog about her being found in the woods in north carolina... preggers at a year and a half... she'd zoomed away from an abusive owner (as evidenced by scar tissue around her neck).... at any rate, she had to survive by her own wits and instinctive wisdom in the wild..

these dogs in your story.... learning the intricasies of surviving in an urban environment... and making such adjustments like the subway station aspects... wow.... .

i went to youtube to see if there might b a story about it... couldn't find one... but did find this... and i love gabriel...

  9. Thanks for your comment David. No I didnt have my Multiply Account when you wrote about finding Keerah, if you wouldnt mind leaving the link for me Id really enjoy reading it. Poor Keerah what she must have endured in the hands of an abusive owner and in the wild.. she is very lucky to have such a caring person looking out for her now.. as I type this I have in my mind the picture of her and yrself laying on the floor in the Lake House that you had on yr site... ( I really like that pic)

Yeah I was blown away when I read this story.. I read it about 2 months ago. Did you read the comment I posted above in response to "aslowread"s comment.. it explained how the dogs hunt for food..Very clever indeed. And also I replied to Johns comment above with the link to the page and on that page are a couple of video' of these dogs.

Recently, IF I have a subject in mind that I would like to find a video for... Instead of looking for it on YouTube.. I do a google Video search... its not as limiting as only looking within You Tube.

And Lastly... yeah Gabriel is a cutie.. but poor little guy.. SIX years in adoption centres waiting for a home??? that broke my heart hearing that. Thats approx half his life and who knows how long he was abandoned on the streets. Six years in one place may have been kinder.. you know.. same people for longer periods of time.

oh and by the way.. Is Keerah having a weekend home this weekend? She has been socialising quite a bit lately.

  12. You lie!! I could see you bringing one a week home lol

I cant tell you how many dogs I enticed home, walking home from school when I was in junior school. I always hoped that once I got them home my parents would let me keep them. It kind of didnt work out that way.

  13. You got me, I WOULD bring them all home, lol. I'm a sucker for a pretty face! But my cat PJ will have to die before I can have dogs at this point, he attacks them. I found a sweet little bull terrier and went and bought him all the doggie stuff he needed, then when I got him home, PJ attacked him when I set him on the ground to get his bag of stuff out of the truck! Lucky I had him on the harness and snatched him up from the ground like a yo yo! LOL! I was heart broken, but the folks I got him from took him to the pound and the lady there who runs it took him herself, he was that gorgeous! Sigh....one day though...
