The world is only so big.

I was reading earlier this afternoon about two deaths which resulted from Hungry Bears ( a mother and her three cubs) killing a Father and his Step Daughter in Russia.  Naturally its always disturbing to read of situations such as this, but then I saw this picture... which I found equily disturbing. Urban Spread has destroyed much of the hunting lands for these bears and their food source... truly tragic as well.

  1. The way the Russians treat bears, I'm not surprised they've lashed out. They (Russians) always chained the bears up and made them perform (dance) for very little money. The conditions they were/are kept in is awful too.
It's about time they stopped this malpractice. Maybe this will be the wake up call they desperately need.

  2. this has been happening all over the world since man discovered uses for trees, and needing to develop towns, cities and roads. India has tigers, russia and usa have bears, and parts of asia have elephants coming into towns, to find food.
I read about the girl in russia. Her mother listened to her being eaten by a bear, on her mobile phone, thinking the girl was joking, then realising her moans and groans were real. It was rather sickening to read.

  3. It is truly sad that mankind has EXPANDED so much and as an end result removes the wildlife's territory!

  6. Not to burst any bubbles, Angie. But, as someone who does Photoshop, this is a manufactured picture in my opinion. The quality as a test subject of this particular picture is not great, but, such as it is, I ran it through a number of filters and concluded that the bears were never a part of the original picture nor were they ever in the same picture, taken together.

So, why would someone do this? Well, it's either a flat-out hoax or it's someone with an agenda trying to evoke emotion, using this image as a fraudulent ends-justifies-the-means deception.

  7. These were not captive bears Dave, they were in the wilderness. So basically they were looking for food.. which is what wild animals do.. anything is fair game.

I have seen dancing bears too..(on television) very sad indeed.

I suppose the young girl needed comfort.. was desperate for help.. but OMG what an ordeal to put her Mother through.

  9. It doenst only happen with animals though Annette.

I was watching a television program a couple of months ago and it was about the sustainability of Earths food for its ever increasing populations. It was explaining how tribes along the river in ( can't recall the country).. would be displaced if the sale of a huge portion of its fertile lands were sold to Egypt, who were proposing to purchase the land for food production.

  10. I tried to find the town mentioned on google maps but it was a no go.

It took Authorities 30 minutes to reach the two people in the story I mentioned ( daughter and her Step Father).. so it cant have been too remote from populated areas Paul.

  11. well they succeeded .. I looked at the image and felt incredibly sorry for the poor animals. They looked so out of place.

You know, Manfred, Ive never used Photoshop. Interesting that you could examine the pic and determine its authenticity.. well done and thanks. ( the pic was just one I saw.. it was not posted with the origional news article I was reading at the time)

  12. my understanding was that mother and daughter were on the phone 3 times over an extended period... like an hour... add another 30 mins fro authorities to get to them... and its not exactly surban living....

  13. Oh god, I just went to that link, that is so horrible, to die that way...:(
I wouldn't know if the photo was altered either but nonetheless, wild animals are displaced by man, building and taking more and more of the land the animals inhabit...they are driven into areas where people live and it becomes a problem....

  14. I neglected to take that hour into my equation Paul.. but still, urban crawl does encroach significantly on habitats of wild animals.

thanks for providing the link too

( I see that you have added chapter 8 of your writing.. when I have finished watching the block Im looking forward to reading it!)
