An elephant in Thailand that came to worldwide attention when its foot was amputated after stepping on a landmine is being fitted with a prosthetic leg.
Motola was injured 10 years ago while working at a Thai logging camp near the border with Burma.
The founder of the Friends of the Asian Elephant group, Soraida Salwala, says experts are making a cast of Motola's leg for a plastic prosthetic limb.
"Today is the 10th anniversary of Motola's tragic accident, which happened back in 1999," she said.
"We are preparing for her prosthetic leg. Her wounds healed very slowly.
"We are working in progress. Hopefully by tomorrow we can fit her with the real prosthetic leg."
Soraida Salwala says 48-year-old Motola should have been the first at the hospital to receive a prosthetic limb.
But because Motola's wounds healed very slowly, three-year-old Mosha got the first artificial leg instead.
The hospital says it hopes to fit Motola with her leg by Sunday.
That sweet elephant is 48 years old? Oooooo....
