What is blue, about 10 feet tall and takes several ballpoint pens to make?
One of Juan Francisco Casas' drawings, based on a photograph and recreated with only a blue pen. The 32 year old Spanish artist submitted his first realist ball point-pen drawing at a national competition in 2004 - and won second prize!
Casas received a Ph.D in Fine Arts from the University of Granada in Southern Spain in 2006 where he taught for six years. In 2007, he moved to Rome after winning a grant from the Spanish Academy there.
The only drawback of using ballpoint pens, says Casas, is that one can not erase mistakes and can just hope to make them early on. No wonder then that one large drawing can take Casas up to two weeks to make. I simply HAD to find some more pictures, so Ive added them to a slide show... Truelly briliant tallent!!!
